Love/Hate

Violet has been having her friend Kaylee over for a play date once a month. Then Violet goes to her house once a month. They are both cute little brown hair girls with tiny mouse voices, and they love each other. And then something happens. I never know what it is but all of a sudden they are mad dogging each other. Trying to see who can give the longest meanest stare. I just try to keep them busy and hope Violet plays nice. I hope Violet is nice at her house! I think it's a love/hate relationship.

Dalton's Birthday

Dalton turned 14! He is turning into such a great young man. Sometimes I am amazed by how grown up he is. He has more patience than me. And other times I am reminded that he is still a kid in a big body. He is so fun to be around. He always has a smile and the ability to make you laugh. He is passionate about the things he loves. He is a great older brother and I love to see Violet and Dexter get so excited everyday when he gets home from school. Dexter goes right up for a hug and Violet knows it's time to eat some ramen noodles. Dalton loves his family and it shows. He is kind to everyone, he includes others and he likes to be a teacher. If you ever need to know how to sharpen a knife or the proper way to field dress a grouse, just ask Dalton. He didn't want a cake so we put candles in his ice cream. He didn't want a guitar so he got a banjo. Oh, and the kid does not take a bad picture. Very handsome.

Christmas Time

I couldn't find our pictures of Christmas morning. So these are a few of the things we did during the month. They are the really important things anyway. You know because Christmas is about our loved ones not presents.

We went to Build a Bear with Nicole and Claire the their kids. This is the second year we have done it and I think it's great. Instead of the kids giving each other gifts that they didn't pick and don't really understand yet, they go have an experience together.  And they love it too. Plus we never really get all together anymore. We are far away and life is busy. Good stuff.

We made the ugliest gingerbread house ever. Sorry Dex, you were in bed.

Violet was in a program at her preschool. They sang songs and then did a nativity scene. She chewed her sleeve the whole time.

The best little sheep ever. During the nativity Violet and her friend pulled all of the cotton balls off her costume. At least they just piled them up into a nice neat pile.
